--// FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS //--
Q: What is this, exactly? Is it a webcomic, a book, an animated show, a video game...?
A: It's all of them! Edge of Anomaly is a multimedia webcomic, which contains not just still panels and novel-style dialogue/story, but also fully animated panels, fully interactive video game panels, and ARG elements with website interactivity. It's a project that came about from me really not being able to pick what I wanted it to be, so I chose everything! It's been whittled down into a properly manageable and intertwined creation that I'm very proud of, after more than 15 years in development.
Q: Who is the main character?
A: There is no singular main character - the story will shuffle between the perspectives of Enzo, Radion, Wattson, and Gordon. (As well as occasionally Flamel!) While Enzo has most of the limelight in the beginning as the 'I got roped into this mess' office worker, he is simply one of six dudes that make up the whole story. I'm a big fan of books and shows that have character development and focus on more than one person, and in this format I'm able to take that a step further.
Q: Why do you refer to the webcomic as 'Edge of Anomaly' when the logo says 'Edge of Anomaly: Oculus'?
A: Good question! That's because Edge of Anomaly is the main title of the webcomic, while Oculus is the subtitle - that planet is the focus of this particular comic arc. The subtitle and background will change once the future arcs are brought into play.
Q: What is the story about?
A: It's about a bunch of technomagical alien bug guys from planet Oculus, who get unknowingly swept up in a godly quest to save the planet/solar system. It'll involve a lot of silly cartoon hijinks, magic battles, difficult decisions, and adventuring around a bunch of different planets to solve wild mysteries!
Q: You used to post your art a lot more online, why don't you anymore?
A: A few reasons, mostly just because I'm an extremely busy person these days. I also haven't really been taking part in social media as much as I used to, both for my own mental wellbeing, exhaustion with maintaining a social presence, and because of all the nightmarish nonsense with genAI and algorithms killing my motivation to put my art up anywhere. I post my work primarily on Sheezy these days, and sometimes on other social media, but really I just want to focus on my story and work without having to stress about timing/websites/etc just to have my work seen online.
Q: Why did you choose to draw your webcomic in that angular style?
A: My angular style is the easiest and most enjoyable for me to draw, which has become especially important for me as my disabilities have grown worse and restricted how much I'm able to create. Sharp straight lines are much more gentle on my wrists.
Q: Can I make fan characters / fanart of your world?
A: You may, HOWEVER - it is VERY important to note that I have boundaries I want to make extremely clear, after deeply uncomfortable previous experiences I have had with people making fan content of my works. Please keep in mind that these boundaries are for personal, very serious life trauma based reasons and comfort around my creations. You are not obligated to interact with my work or make fan content, and if you are personally offended or bothered by my boundaries about these topics, please find a different webcomic to follow and create fan works for.
- DO NOT create any NSFW/f*tishy/suggestive fan content of my work, in any form or fashion. ALL species in my webcomic are physically genderless/sexless, nonsexual/asexual beings. I am not comfortable, at all, with any manner of inappropriate content being made of my world or characters.
- DO NOT create fan content depicting any of my species or characters using/engaging with any manner of substances (alcohol/drugs/weed/smoking/etc).
- Please do not wildly change canon information when posting fan content. All factual character/lore/etc information is available on this site.
- Please do not claim that my creations/species/worlds/stories are your original works when posting fan content.
- Please do not sell fan content, or make merch to sell of my content / fan content, such as on Redbubble or other merch sites. I am a disabled individual who relies on my art to make a living. (If you want to collab, however, I am happy to chat with you about that!)
Understand that I will block anyone who disregards my boundaries. These are my comfort characters and original creations, and this is a story that has deep personal meaning to me. Please be a decent being and respect my boundaries.
Q: May I kin your characters
A: Thank you for asking, but I am not comfortable with that and would prefer that you didn't. My characters are very personal and important to me, and are what I consider to be some of my oldest and dearest comfort characters from the soul. Of course I can't stop you from doing so privately, as that's purely your business, but please understand and respect that what I have written/conceptualized/drawn is who they are, and I am the only authority on how my characters would act or speak. You are of course more than welcome to relate to my characters generally, however.
Q: Can I use your characters or designs in my own works/webcomics?
A: If you're talking about outright copying (or mishmashing bits and pieces of) the work I have done to drop it in your own worldbuilding content, absolutely not. My work is my intellectual property, and that includes my concept designs, characters, worlds, worldbuilding information, and anything else that I have created. You are not allowed to use my content or heavily reference it for your own work. If you're talking about having one of my characters as an easter egg/guest appearance, however, I'm more than happy to talk with you about that.
Q: Where can I ask you a question?
A: Contact me on any of my social media sites and I'll get back to you when I have the time!
Q: Why didn't you respond to my message?
A: I'm a full-time moderator for two art websites (Art Fight and SheezyArt) as well as a professional artist, chiptune composer, indie game developer, and web developer. I don't always have the time or energy to respond to things people send, or it's something I don't feel I can/need to give a response to. Additionally, I don't reply to any negativity and block very freely, so if what you sent was negative or trolling I likely just deleted it, blocked, and moved on with my day as usual.
Q: What do you use to draw, code, compose, etc?
A: I use Clip Studio Paint to draw and animate generally, Macromedia Flash 8 to sketch out larger animations (due to the 24 frame limit my version of Clip has) and put together finalized animated panels, Blockbench for all 3D models and 3D animations, Notebook++ for my website code (though I'll be upgrading to Visual Studio soon), Gamemaker Studio 2 GML coding for my games, Piskel for all pixel animations, and BeepBox/ModBox for my chiptune compositions. I draw with a Wacom Intuos Pro digitizer tablet.
